Product Introduction
Spring washers, also known as spring washers, play an important role in the mechanical and screw industries. It is usually used to increase the contact area between products, enhance fastening effect, and reduce friction damage between components. The main functions of the cushion include preventing loosening, shock absorption, preventing air leakage, serving as a buffer, and providing safety protection in specific environments. The material of the spring pad is diverse, including stainless steel and carbon steel (usually iron), and there are also various sizes to choose from, such as M3, M4, M5, M6, M8, M10, M12, M14, M16, etc. The national standard GB/T 94.1-2008 specifies the technical conditions for spring pads to ensure their quality and stability of performance.
The application scenarios of spring washers are wide, especially in situations where the pre tightening force of bolts is not high and the dynamic load is small. When the connected part is relatively soft, the sharp edge of the spring washer can be embedded to prevent loosening. In addition, when the clamping length of the bolt is short and the stress relaxation of the bolt is significant, if the elastic force of the washer is not significantly different from the pre tightening force of the bolt, the spring washer can compensate for this stress relaxation. However, in high-strength bolt connections, due to the smaller end face of the spring washer compared to the flat washer, under the same pre tightening force and external load conditions, it may cause surface deformation of the parts, thereby reducing the pre tightening force of the bolt and gradually causing loosening. Therefore, when choosing whether to use spring washers, it is necessary to consider the specific application scenario and bolt type comprehensively.
In addition to spring washers, there are other types of washers such as flat washers and anti loosening washers, each with different application scenarios and advantages. Flat washers are mainly used to prevent loosening of bolts and nuts, while anti loosening washers have stronger anti loosening capabilities. Understanding the characteristics and usage scenarios of these gaskets can help us choose the appropriate gasket type based on specific needs to ensure the reliability and safety of the connection
Main materials
Usually, 65MN spring steel or 70 # carbon steel, 3Cr13, stainless steel materials SUS304 or SUS316, as well as phosphor bronze materials can be used.
Main purpose
Used under the nut to prevent it from loosening.
It is stated in national standards.
The methods to prevent nuts (or bolts) from automatically loosening in mechanical design and production include:
1. Add spring washers; (Simple and easy to do)
2. Use hexagonal slotted nuts and split pins; (Year on year increase in processing steps)
3. Add a stop washer; (Year on year increase in processing steps)
4. Insert the steel wire into the hexagonal head hole of the hexagonal bolt. (Year on year increase in processing steps)
Spring washers are used for anti loosening, such as adding spring washers to the bolts connecting the motor and the machine base, because if the motor vibrates without spring washers, the nuts will loosen. Generally, fasteners on equipment with vibration are equipped with spring washers, while flanges generally do not require washers. The presence or absence of spring washers on flanges is related to the medium flowing through the pipeline. If it is prone to pulse generation, it is best to add spring washers. There are also high-speed fluid pipelines with frequent changes in diameter, so do not generalize. On some valves, spring washers are required to be added to the flange of the packing box cover, and the selection of spring washers is included in the Quick Easy Optimization automation selection.
Main differences
Spring washers can play a role in preventing loosening and increasing pre tightening force, while flat washers do not have this function. They can be used to increase the fastening contact area, prevent friction between bolts and workpieces, protect the surface of connecting parts from scratching the workpiece surface when bolts and nuts are tightened.
But some important connections, such as those that rely mainly on compression to generate friction and transmit power, cannot use spring pads. Using them will reduce the rigidity of the connection and may even lead to accidents. When the strength of the connected component is low, flat washers or flange bolts are used to increase the contact area. When there is vibration, pulse, or significant temperature fluctuations in the medium, spring washers must be used.
